Homemade Sweetness Suite

I’ve been playing with the new Homemade Sweetness Suite Collection all week and I have used many adjectives to describe it; fun, fresh, bright, sweet, adorable, cute, fun and nostalgic.

It was a nostalgic feeling that first attracted me to this collection.

Growing up, we always had a garden and did a lot of canning. Unlike this collection, we didn’t can a lot of fruits, jams and preserves. We always canned lots of vegetables, tomato soup, salsa, and once in awhile peaches and pears. But I still got that sentimental feeling from the products.

The images of jars, bright fruits, various ways to decorate the jar and the die that cuts a jar-shaped card caught my attention and I love that they did.

This collection is based on the colors Strawberry Slush, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Granny Apple Green, Misty Moonlight, and Secret Sea. I think the designers did a great job of choosing a fun, fresh, rainbow of colors.

This week I shared a full tutorial on my Youtube channel on how to create a jar-shaped card.

Here are the four cards I’ve made so far with this collection.

I love that Stampin’ Up! now has two-tone cardstock in all same colors as the regular cardstock and ink. With it being thinner like the designer series paper, a lighter tone of the color on one side and a darker tone on the other, and has a white core, I find it extremely useful for adding to projects.

For example, in one of my cards, I added strips of two-tone cardstock in a rainbow pattern that matches the fruit I cut out of the patterned paper. With it being two-tone, I was able to pick which side I thought looked best for this card.

Two-tone cardstock and matching “fussy cut” fruit in a rainbow pattern.

I also enjoy embossing the two-tone cardstock with an embossing folder. Typically, some of the white core shows through. Also, you can use a piece of sandpaper and lightly run it over the raised areas of the embossed pattern to expose more of the white core, like the birthday card where I embossed the Calypso Coral two-tone cardstock. I think it adds a lot of interest to a project.

The adorable jelly-jar patterned paper peaking through two layers of ripped paper.

I feel like I hardly made a dent in this fun collection so far! I’m excited to keep creating with it and see what else I can come up with.

Thanks for being here and have a great rest of your day!

Leah
